Blurred stripe background in Aseprite

Striped blur background title image

Learn how to create a blurred stripe background in Aseprite. Use it to make your digital art scene backgrounds more interesting.

Aseprite is an image editor designed primarily for pixel art drawing and animation.

Step 1

Open Aseprite and create a new sprite. I used 80×45 for the size, but you can use any size you wish.

Step 2

Select a few colours and make a stripe pattern. Feel free to experiment with different ideas. For example you could use horizontal, vertical or rotated stripes.

I used hue shifted colours which increase in brightness. But feel free to experiment with other colour choices.

Step 3

Go to:

Edit -> FX -> Convolution matrix

Then select a blur matrix. You should get something like this:

Feel free to experiment with the other options.

Conclusion

Congratulations, you have created a cool looking background!
